Current Regent Theatre Foundation Board of Directors

Marilyn Toombs ( president/chair)

Marilyn has worked in the advertising and marketing industry for over forty years. She has extensive experience in the development of creative and successful national and international marketing campaigns.

She moved to Prince Edward County twenty-five years ago, and feels fortunate to have been able to raise her family in and be part of this vibrant community. Marilyn has been a volunteer at the Regent for the past five years and recently became chair of the board of directors.

Tim Bankier ( vice-chair)

Tim is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School. He spent a few years practicing law and many years financing real estate development projects across Canada. He and his wife Donna (a Regent volunteer) have had a home in the County for 25 years and retired here in 2012.

Bob Cooke (Treasurer)

Bob is a graduate of Carleton (BA) and McGill (MBA) as well as graduate studies at OISE (Adult Education) and Adler Learning (Coaching). His background includes senior team roles with several well-known companies and consulting experience in a range of industries. Bob is living through the renovation of a century home in the Picton harbour area. When not working on the house or brushing dust off his clothes he plays squash and travels. Bob has three grown children who live in the GTA.

 

Steve Blakely

Steve was born and raised in Picton and enjoyed the Regent Theatre growing up. He is an accomplished senior executive with a wealth of financial services industry experience spanning in excess of 35 years.  He has a particular interest in leadership and governance and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors through the Rotman School of Business. His governance experience includes past Chair of Quinte Health Care, directorships and committee appointments on the boards of Credit Union Central of Alberta and Credential Financial Inc.  He currently sits as Board Chair for Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario in Toronto. Steve and his wife Joan retired to the County in 2009

Dale Boyd

Dale’s working career spanned forty years in financial and operations management, including 15 in Real Estate Brokerage and Development in Vancouver, and 25 with the Canadian Stock Markets in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.

Having lived in a small village outside Vancouver for many years before moving to Toronto, Dale and her husband, Nick, were thrilled to “discover” Prince Edward County and retired here in 2008.  Dale has been a director of the Foundation since 2012.

Treat Hull

Treat is Broker of Record with Treat Hull + Associates, Ltd., Brokerage in Picton. Before moving to Prince Edward County and taking up real estate, Treat had over three decade’s experience as a management consultant and marketing executive. Treat is actively involved in the community and served as founding Chair of 99.3 County FM where he continues to volunteer. He ran for MPP in the 2011 provincial election and was elected as Councillor in Picton Ward in October 2014. Treat has a BA (Hon) from York University and a M.A.Sc. in Management from the University of Waterloo.

Ryan J. Noth

Ryan is a multi-platform filmmaker, editor, and producer. His recent short films Beyond The Horizon (2015) and A Tomb With A View (2014) premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and his previous works have premiered in Rotterdam, Austin (SXSW) and Buenos Aires. Ryan moved to Cherry Valley in 2012 with his life and work partner Tess Girard, and together they formed Fifth Town Films, based out of their century old carriage house. Ryan is also the vice-chair of the Athol Recreation Committee, and enjoys the outdoors in all seasons.

Rick Szabo

Rick is a graduate of the University of Washington with a BA in Business Administration. He spent 12 years in the automotive industry as a finance director. Rick and his family moved to Prince Edward County in 2015 where Rick works as a Finance Manager for Wentworth Landscapes. Rick keeps busy as treasurer of the Picton BIA and as co-owner (with his wife) of The Vic Café located in the historic Regent Theatre. Rick is a lifelong traveler having visited 6 of the 7 continents and spent 4 years living in South Africa with his wife, Sonya, and their three young children.
